Our Spiritual Leaders
Message from Unity of the Seacoast’s Spiritual Leaders:
Reverend Maryanne McPherson-Boynton & Reverend Phil Boynton
Welcome to Unity of the Seacoast (UOTS). We are pleased to be serving UOTS as temporary ministers through the end of 2012. Our co-ministry is one of respect, understanding, peace and oneness.
Through Unity Principles we offer a positive, practical, and progressive approach to Christianity. We offer practical, spiritual teachings that empower an abundant and meaningful life. UOTS is nondenominational, non-dogmatic, and introduces an enlightened Christianity which embraces the universal truths in other religions. Unity’s emphasis is on a path of spiritual awakening that moves humanity toward oneness through love, forgiveness, and acceptance of all people. Unity’s focus is not on sin, but in creating a healthy relationship with God which is free of fear and guilt. We take an extremely positive approach to life, emphasizing the good in people and all life.
We view our community quite simply. We are a close-knit spiritual family. We learn together, and we have an enormous amount of fun together. We welcome traditional families with children of all ages. We welcome all people regardless of marital status, age, sexual orientation, or race.
Reverend Maryanne was ordained an Interfaith Minister in 2007. She shares her learning’s from her experience for 15 years as a religious and spiritual youth educator, a spiritual artist and a peacemaker coming through health challenges through prayer and self-love, in the mold of Myrtle Fillmore, co-founder of the Unity Movement. Rev. Maryanne’s messages reflect upon how important it is to remind ourselves every day of the immense power of prayer, grace, unconditional love and seeing things as they truly are. She has a deep love for all living creatures, especially oneself – Unconditional Self-Love. Rev. Maryanne holds an MAT degree in English Literature.
Reverend Phil was ordained an Interfaith Minister in 2010. Phil is a multi instrumentalist, vocalist, and composer. His original spiritual compositions are a core part of his Music Ministry. His solo album/CD “One And The Same” was created to be shared in Unity communities. The album includes compositions about and influenced by Unity and Interfaith Teachings. His talks are a blend of metaphysics and mysticism. He teaches that the Divine is not something outside of ourselves. The Divine is who and what we are. God is something we experience directly every moment of our lives. Rev. Phil holds an MBA degree in Business Administration.
Both Rev. Maryanne and Rev. Phil have extensive backgrounds in Unity churches as inspirational speakers. They have served as Chaplains and lead and developed Chaplain programs. They teach and practice affirmative prayer. And music is their life blood. You will never experience a service or event involving Revs. Maryanne and Phil that does not involve a clear, concise, and rich meshing of message and music. Revs. Maryanne and Phil are sound healing practitioners using multiple modalities to include Native American flutes, singing bowls, Community Drum Circles, Celtic Harp Meditations, and Kirtan group chanting. They have extensive backgrounds in Reiki healing, Deeksha/The Oneness Blessing — having been attuned through The Oneness University and study in the Fiji Islands.
New to Unity? We would like you to know that you are welcome at our church. We are conveniently located to Dover, Portsmouth, Kittery, Somersworth and other coastal Maine and New Hampshire towns. We look forward to seeing you soon for Sunday morning service, or Wednesday evening for Interfaith Community Healing Service, so we can extend a welcome to you and say “NAMASTÉ”.
